The end of the picture book?
In the midst of the prevailing brouhaha about the end of the picture book - and the end of traditional books in general - enter, It's a Book, a picture book in the traditional format, by Lane Smith. Published in August 2010 by Roaring Book Press, It's a Book makes an implicit and compelling case for the traditional book, in a lighthearted way, with very few words - and some pictures (which, BTW, is the theme of this blog).
While those who write, illustrate, read and adore picture books are still reeling from last week's New York Times story pronouncing doom for the picture book, this is fun to read - a welcome bit of comic respite in a season of publishing gloom.
P.S. This just in - how convenient! A review of It's A Book in the Sunday, October 17 New York Times.
